Antique patinated bronze/ copper alloy figural shrine, India, modeled as the pan-Indian deity, Saraswati, depicted with four arms holding various attributes including a serpent and lotus flower, seated atop her respective vahana, a peacock, a small seated figure with a nine-serpent hood seated atop her head, against a pierced backplate with Prabhavali arch and snake/ naga motifs, rising on stepped base, retaining adhesive collection number at reverse, in three pieces, approx 18.75"h, 9.5"w, 8"d, 21.75lbs **Provenance: the contents of a retired Wall Street executive's lakeside compound**
02.09.2026- In my opinion regarding LOT 1271: Please note that I am not an expert in works of this nature, from a close visual and UV light examination, I note that the shrine stands sturdy, with each piece fitting together securely and comfortably, the gilded patina exhibits typical light tonal variations including mellowing and light spotting, with light rubs throughout the surface, most notable at areas with incised detailing, also having minute pitting, the corners of the square base are slightly upturned, however I do not observe other areas that are notably dented/ misshapen, there is typical light build-up of grime within crevices that would benefit from a gentle cleaning
