Purchased from Betty Jane Bart Antiques, New York City** 2.27.26-In my opinion regarding LOT: please note that I am not an expert on such works, so have taken numerous images for your review, the canvas appears to have been relined, likely with a wax lining, stabilizing the structure of the work, a UV light examination reveals an uneven and aged varnish layer, with scattered areas of inpainting, along with surface accretions and variation in paint thickness, the surface exhibits stable craquelure, minor paint flakes and small losses concentrated primarily along the extreme edges, additional observations include light stretcher lines, scattered spotting, and a layer of surface grime consistent with age, as noted there is a patched repair near the lower left corner, this area does not fluoresce under UV examination from the front, possibly suggesting an older intervention, the work appears stable overall, the frame exhibits age showing wood wear, nicks, abrasions, areas of paint and finish loss, and visible corner joins, it securely encases the work
