2.27.26- please note that I am not an expert on such works, therefore numerous images have been provided for your careful review, the canvas is taut and appears to have been relined, likely with a wax stabilization, a UV light examination reveals a heavy, aged varnish layer across the surface, with stable craquelure visible throughout, I observe a few small areas of possible old canvas repair which fluoresce under UV light, presenting as linear interventions, one located near the soldier's jacket extending vertically toward the floor, and another within the central left quadrant of the composition, as illustrated in the accompanying images, the surface shows minor variation in paint thickness along with a few minute scattered paint flakes and faint stretcher lines, the frame exhibits minor losses, rubs, areas of painted touchup, and visible but secure corner joins, the reverse shows a well-executed and professionally reinforced structure
