Early formative period Anasazi black-on-grey pottery bowl, painted on the interior with three spoked circular motifs, approx 2 1/8"h, 4 1/8"diam, 0.5lbs **Provenance: From the collection of Frank K. Ribelin (1933-2010) through inheritance to consignor. This lot was examined via photograph by a highly regarded specialist in Native American and ethnographic art.** **Note: Please consult the condition section for limited observations made by our staff during a visual examination of the lot.** 8.23.26- In my opinion regarding: I am not an expert on prehistoric pottery, its condition, conservation or restoration types or techniques, I have taken numerous images for your reference, the bowl appears overall intact, a UV light examination reveals florescence to the interior bottom of the bowl and lower wall, this is not visible from the other exterior, I am unsure of the nature of this fluorescence and whether it relates to prior stabilization or restoration, the rim is with scattered small chips and roughness, I note a fine network of crazing to the interior and exterior bowl, pitting, small flakes and losses to the surface and painted decoration, scattered small nicks to body, and discoloration with darkened areas, mostly noted to exterior base, please refer to high-resolution images for your review Detailed condition reports are not included in this catalog. For additional information, including condition reports, please utilize the ASK A QUESTION tab found in each lot. All lots are sold as-is and where is.
