English figured walnut writing slope/ travel desk, late 19th c., with inset brass trim and string inlay, hinged lid with central cartouche inscribed A. Forrest Oct. 16th, 1885, opening to gilt-embossed inset leather writing surface, compartmentalized pen and ink receptacles, retaining two glass inkwells with hinged gilt metal lids, and letter/ stationary storage, writing surface lifting to open concealed storage, one side with release-activated panel revealing three concealed drawers, one panel of writing surface present but fully detached at central seam, approx 7.5"h, 19.75"w, 10.5"d, 14lbs
