Italian Baroque period paint-decorated bed, 17th/ 18th c., in a worn teal blue and ivory painted finish with parcel-gilt accents, with pierced scrollwork crest, above arcaded spiral twist headboard, Solomonic columnar corner posts with twisting vines and lobed finials, baluster-form supports ending on square block feet, small wood losses and glue restorations, exterior: approx 66.5"h, 84"l, 57.5"w, interior: approx 78"l, 51.25"w **Provenance: Treasures from the vaults of a Dallas designer** 04.02.26: As described there are scattered small wood losses, including a couple of trim pieces, and minor glue restorations, mostly appearing at the crest and columns spacing the arcading, the painted finish displaying expected wear commensurate with age and use such as discoloration and flaked losses, also having areas of inpainted touch ups, I observe a few stable splits, including at the legs, which all appear to remain structurally sturdy and secure, and there is scattered evidence of old woodworm commensurate with origin, the corner posts of the footboard have holes for dowel inserts, likely for further structural support, but the dowels are not currently present Detailed condition reports are not included in this catalog.
