Fine French Renaissance Revival heavily carved oak bed, 19th c., shaped headboard with central octagonal platform, above recessed paneling depicting figural scenes of a reclined maiden and an interior with a nursing mother and child at a spinning wheel carved in relief, side panels with varied carved decoration, one side with cartouche and elaborate foliated scrollwork, the other with winged cherub mask supporting a wheel, amongst tracery and vinery, latticed footboard flanked by varied supports, one in the form of a beast, the other as a Solomonic columns, supports ending on casters, exterior: approx 53"h, 83"l, 65"w, interior: approx, 74"l, 57"w **Provenance: Property from a distinguished private collection** 08.12.26: I note that the bed stands sturdy and appears structurally secure throughout, the carved elements are remarkably well retained and free from notable losses beyond some sparse, typical minor chipping commensurate with age and use, the finish remains overall uniform with scattered light rubs, I observe some minor fills, notably along the seam between the left corner post and paneled headboard (see images) adjacent to a small filled loss, the bas relief panels with an inherently lighter finish, the tops of headboard corner posts likely lacking finials, one with a small visible fill at center (see images), additionally I note a few minor, stable splits, and other typical minor surface wear such as light abrasions and nicks commensurate with age and use
