French Louis Philippe period walnut commode, mid 19th c., having marble top, over frieze drawer, above three open drawers, ending on bracket feet, restoration to marble top and scattered veneer losses, approx 33.5"h, 50"w, 23"d
02.02.26: As described the marble exhibits a restoration extending the full length of the top (see image) which appears to remain fully secure, also having typical minor chipping, also as described there are scattered veneer losses ranging in size (see images) mostly along unfinished back edge, I note that the commode stands sturdy, the drawers being slightly stubborn when closing, but retaining overall well-kept interiors, a couple drawers with fabric-lined bottoms, I observe a split at the left side panel with minor filled reinforcement, and small scattered fills at spots of naturally occurring burls and knots for a smoother surface, the veneer having tonal variations of the finish and light surface wear such as small abrasions and nicks, as well as typical evidence of old woodworm commensurate with origin
