French Louis Philippe period figured walnut commode, mid 19th c., having molded-edge marble top, over four long drawers, rising on flared bracket feet, stable separation to side panel, approx 36"h, 47"w, 22"d
02.03.26: In my opinion regarding LOT 2343: As described there is stable separation at the right side panel (see image), I note that the commode is structurally sturdy, the marble top having a central area of pitting with a rust-colored discoloration (see image), also with some natural metallic inclusions, a sparse amount of typical minor chipping to edges, the veneer exhibits a fine figuring, with typical tonal variations associated with light fading, discoloration, and spotting the top long drawer (below frieze drawer) lacking the inlaid escutcheon, I observe typical minor surface wear such as abrasions and small chips commensurate with age and use, including some areas with touch ups and fill at the trim between drawers, and I observe minute evidence of old woodworm commensurate with origin
