French Louis XV style giltwood mirror, 19th c., having elaborate floral crest, over textured frame with foliate scrollwork and beaded trim, encasing flat mirror plate, approx 70"h, 39 5/8"w, 103lbs
03.14.25: In my opinion regarding LOT 3331: I note that the mirror is presently intact, the frame securely encasing mirror plate, which is currently free from observed chips or fractures (not examined outside frame), with some minute silver loss spotting and small, light areas of hazing, the crest and top edge of the frame having some minute evidence of old woodworm commensurate with origin, the frame with typical splits, all appearing to remain secure/ not seeming to affect structural integrity when hung, close visual and UV light examinations reveal an area of reinforcement to the central protruding scroll at the left-hand side edge of frame, the gilt being overall well-preserved with typical minor flaked and chipped losses commensurate with age and use, and tonal variations associated minor surface grime, rubs, mellowing, and a sparse amount of typical painted touch ups
