French carved walnut display bookcase, early 20th c., having molded cornice with running floral ornamentation, above central beveled mirror plate, flanked by dual glazed cabinet doors, with iron lattice overlay, opening to shelved interior, lower figured walnut facade with marquetry scrollwork and instrument motifs, rising on turned legs, approx 88"h, 61"w, 21"d
11.20.24: In my opinion regarding LOT 2102: I note that the bookcase is presently intact and structurally sturdy, the walnut veneer having inherent tonal variations, the glass panes and mirror plate are securely encased within framing and free from currently observed fractures/ hairlines or visible chipping, the mirror plate having light hazing/ spotting, the glass also with spotting that would likely resolve from a thorough cleaning, the iron lattice overlay is also secure with overall uniform patina, the marquetry is well-preserved and free from currently observed losses, I observe several areas of filled restoration of varied degrees, most being minor, such as the front left corner of the cornice and the central region of the back edge of left side panel, there is evidence of minor old woodworm commensurate with origin, most of these spots having filled concealment, and I observe a sparse amount of typical minor surface wear such as light abrasions, a few small veneer chips, and nicks commensurate with age and use
