French Napoleon III period cave a liqueur, late 19th c., ebonized case with Boulle-style cut-brass inlay, enclosing a removable cradle fitted with (4) etched glass decanters and stoppers, (16) cordial cups, (three) of a varied pattern, top cartouche monogramed VB, case: approx 10.75"h, 12.75"w, 10"d, 10.5lbs total

Condition

10.4.24-LOT 3013: I note that the cave a liqueur set is presently intact, all hinged panels operate smoothly, the case exhibits some typical minor wear, rubs, and crazing to the lacquer and finish, there is light evidence of old woodworm,mostly contained to the edges of the hinged lid, the lower left of central cartouche has a small area of lifted veneer that is pushing a segment of brass inlay upwards (see image),  this appears to remain securely, side panels show stable splits, two with filled reinforcement (see images), there is a small area of trim loss noted at lower back right edge of case, all mentioned commensurate with origin, age and use, all crystal elements are intact, one cordial having a minor chip to rim, another cordial intact with small hairline at base of stem, all decanter stoppers have varied degrees of typical chips to the bottom of stopper, most being very minor, the vibrance of the gilt metal candle is well-preserved with very light patination
