Framed woodblock print in colors on paper, "The Rain Falls Far From Us," ink signed lower left Hundertwasser (Friedensreich Hundertwasser, Austrian, 1928-2000), numbered 22/ 200, dated 1976, from the "Midori No Namida" portfolio, retaining Harcourts Gallery, San Francisco labels on dust cover, light creasing to sheet near left side, sight: approx 16"h, 20"w, overall: approx 25.5"h, 30"w, 9lbs **Provenance: the contents of a fine 1960s Paris, France apartment**
06/04/2026-In my opinion regarding LOT: 1174- please note I am not an expert on woodblock prints, the work was examined out of frame, the sheet is not mounted and rests loosely within the frame assembly, settling into the corners of the backing board, the paper exhibits mild toning with scattered minor spotting, the deckled sheet edges remain visible and display the expected irregularities associated with such paper, a UV light examination reveals no apparent tears, repairs, or significant areas of loss, the sheet presents with minor creasing, pinching, and wrinkling concentrated primarily along the margins, and due to the loose mounting method the work sits slightly wavy and raised within the frame, the colors are vibrant, with metallic pigments remaining reflective, there a few isolated handling marks and soft impressions visible along the borders, all of which appear minor, the work arrived with the dust cover poorly reattached, exhibiting numerous tears and loss to the back paper, we elected to leave it in place as it retains several gallery and exhibition labels, these labels could easily be preserved and relocated to the reverse of the artwork should the backing paper be professionally removed and replaced, light debris and particulate accumulation are noted along the lower edge of the black mat, the frame exhibits scattered wear including abrasions and areas of finish, in my opinion, overall the work presents well and is free of major loss
