Gilt-brass astronomical mantel clock, Hour-Lavigne, 20th c., having red and green marble accents, clock dial marked W. Vevey Melega-Corbaz, with month, weekday, date, and moon phase subsidiary dials, battery-operated quartz movement, chapter ring with Roman numeral hour markers, above thermometer and barometer, battery-operated astrolabe movement, having openwork rete with Zodiac symbols, stacked atop celestial sphere, rising on footed rectangular platform, marked France with serial number and Hour-Lavigne spiral mark underfoot, time movement observed operating, astrolabe movement not currently operational, approx 14"h, 10.5"w, 5.5"d, 15.25lbs
04.17.2026- In my opinion regarding LOT: 3016- please note that we are not experts on clocks, the clock is overall intact and stands sturdy, it may have had a glass cover at one time, I am unsure, stone elements have only some light and minor roughness, metal is bright with some typical light mellowing, tonal variation, minor surface abrasions and scattered nicks along the edges, inset plaques at base are present, as mentioned in the catalog description, both the clock movement and the astrolabe are battery-operated, each requires one AA battery, batteries are not included in the lot, as mentioned the time movement was observed operating, the subsidiary dials were not tested, the astrolabe movement did not respond when I placed a battery in it and switched it to "start," indicating that it is not currently operating properly, this piece would likely benefit from a professional inspection to ensure it is fully operational
