Italian Art Nouveau gilt metal bed, early 20th c., scrolled headboard with organic floral motifs, above upholstered back, flanked by turned-form finials, joining plain footboard via straight rails, rising on cylindrical supports and rounded feet, restoration resulting in small areas of visible epoxy at interior hinges of footboard, exterior: approx 44.5"h, 80"l, 70"w, interior: approx 78.5"l, 68"w CR 5.9.25-I note that the bed is structurally sound and sturdy. There is typical light surface wear, including small mars and scuffing, particularly to the rail interior and the feet. I also note that the metal is patinated and the upholstered headboard is slightly stained. This is commensurate with age and regular use. As mentioned in the catalog description, the footboard has been restored. Due to warping (possibly a result of exposure to moisture), it was slightly bowed, enough so that it could not be properly affixed to the joining rails at the interior hinges. Epoxy was added to allow the footboard to rest flush. There are small areas of visible epoxy around the interior hinges of the footboard.
