02.19.24: In my opinion regarding LOT 1242: As described both side panels exhibit splits with fill restorations, I note that the commode is presently intact and remarkably structurally secure given the age, the top panel displays a central split and typical surface wear commensurate with age and use, such as chips and abrasions, some of the deeper surface wear with fill, the top of the left side square post framing the case has a small area of loss with surrounding fill, the drawers open smoothly and the inlaid banding is overall well-retained, both drawers have fill restorations and minor chips concentrated along the top edge, and the top drawer appear slightly warped, being slightly concave on the left side causing the front of the drawer to protrude slightly over the lower trim, I observe that the hardware is later and the escutcheons look slightly misshapen around the keyhole, there is evidence of old woodworm throughout commensurate with age and origin
