Italian Neoclassical style mahogany commode, 19th c., rectangular case fitted with four drawers, with banded parquetry trim, rising on squared and tapered supports, approx 36"h, 49.5"w, 21"d
09.25.24: In my opinion regarding LOT 3373: I note that the commode is presently intact and structurally sturdy, the wood having tonal variation throughout from areas of fading and discoloration/ staining commensurate with age, particularly along the top paneling, I observe typical small losses to the inlaid trim, many with filled restoration, both side panels have varying degrees of splits with filled reinforcement, the right-hand side panel with minor veneer lifting along seam, there is evidence of old woodworm concentrated at the front panels of drawers, most of which have been filled, drawers currently operate relatively smooth, one lacking lock plate, with patination of metal hardware, and I observe typical surface wear such as small nicks, chips, and light abrasions commensurate with age and use
