This lot was examined via photograph by a highly regarded specialist in Native American and ethnographic art.** **Note: Please consult the condition section for limited observations made by our staff during a visual examination of the lot.** 8.23.26-In my opinion regarding LOT : please note, I am not an expert on Native American pottery, the jar is overall intact and presents well, UV light and visual examination reveal areas of possible prior restoration or stabilization, visible as pale or white areas within the clay, the nature and extent of any treatment are uncertain, these areas exhibit slight purple fluorescence under UV light, while no corresponding fluorescence is observed on the exterior, I am not able to say definitively if there is prior conservation/restoration, interior with several fine hairlines and small lines within the clay, along with localized drips or deposits, rim with areas of roughness, additional irregularities to the clay include pitting, spotting, discoloration, and surface variation, exterior with scattered surface crazing, fine lines, some abrasions, flaking, and wear to the painted decoration, please refer to high-resolution images for your review Detailed condition reports are not included in this catalog.
