Meissen porcelain nodding pagoda figure, after the model by J.J. Kaendler (Johann Joachim Kandler, German, 1706-1775), modeled as a grinning female figure in a purple-lined robe decorated with "Indianische Blumen," seated crossed-legged, detachable head with a lead counter-balance, the head, hands and tongue all articulated, body with underglaze-blue crossed swords mark, incised model number 2884, intact with professional restoration and varied degrees of overpainting, approx 12.5"h, 13"w, 12.5"d, 15.75lbs
9.22.25-n my opinion regarding LOT: I am not an expert on such figures and invite you to request further information should you need after reviewing the numerous images provided, a UV light examination reveals multiple areas of restoration most appearing professional, with scattered areas of overpainting throughout, I note a very small repair at the interior corner of the mouth, the tongue though present does not appear to be suspended correctly and slips backwards when moved, the head and hands articulate smoothly, the body remains intact with the noted restoration along the neckline, and with a faint restoration line running through the robe mainly visible on the interior and under UV light, and the feet and ankles, the figure is stable with the aforementioned professional and other repairs
