French Louis XV period ormolu-mounted green stained-horn cartel clock, second half 18th c., the case surmounted by a cast crest with cockerel and hound, above the central enamel dial with Roman and Arabic chapters, pierced gilt hands, dial signed "Bouchet a Paris" (Jean-Louis Bouchet, m.1762), twin barrel movement, silk suspension, numbered pierced count wheel striking on a bell, the back of the movement also signed "Bouchet a Paris," the case blindstamped J.B. Galet (Jean-Baptiste Galet, m.1754, d.1784)/ JME (Jurande des Menuisiers Ebenistes) and J.N. Clavelle, on scroll feet, accompanied by a conforming bracket with similar applied mounts, accompanied by pendulum, case lacking one glass side pane, not currently operational, clock: approx 42"h, 19.5"w, 9"d, bracket: approx 17.5"h, 21.75"w, 12.25"d **Provenance: From the Byram Family's Above Stratford Mansion. John Byram, a prominent Austin-based real estate developer, and his late wife Sally Byram curated this French Provincial style estate with the help of notable architects and interior designers. The home has remained untouched since Sally's untimely passing in 2006, serving as a testament to her taste for sophistication and craftsmanship**
CR 3.24.25-In my opinion regarding LOT: 3250-The clock is currently hung high in the wall, and I am unable to fully view top surfaces, there is some overall general light wear, some small losses, inherent imperfections and lines and minor scattered lifting to metal and other inlays noted throughout case and interior and bracket, I further note some touchups and small repairs, the right side glass pane is lacking, metal appears intact throughout with some inherent rubs, typical minor pitting, and light patination, the bracket has a small wood loss to pedestal surface, see image, all mentioned commensurate with age and origin
As mentioned in the catalog description, the clock is not currently operational, the movement winds well but is sticks slightly, indicating that it may be wound too tight, the dial and movement do not respond to winding, the clock is accompanied by a well-fitting pendulum and the silk suspension spring is intact at the time of inspection, the bell resounds well when manually struck, this lot is not accompanied by a turn key or dial door key, as with all of our antique clocks, this piece would likely benefit from a professional adjustment and a thorough cleaning
