French Louis XV style bureau plat/ writing desk, early 20th c., shaped matched veneer top, over scrolled apron fitted with single drawer, string inlay accents, rising on cabriole legs mounted with gilt metal scrolling foliates, ending on sabots, approx 29.75"h, 43.5"w, 25.5"d
11.27.24: In my opinion regarding LOT 2272: I note that the desk is presently intact and structurally sturdy, having scattered minor filled restorations, including a few minute spots of the string inlay, and a small gouge near the center-left of back edge, these small fills are typical of antique furniture and are commensurate with age and use, as is the noted minor surface wear such as small nicks and veneer chips, additionally, there are some typical small splits along the grain of veneer, all appearing to remain stable, the drawers currently operating smoothly, I observe areas of tonal variation to the veneer, the gilt metal elements appearing securely mounted to desk, and having typical light mellowing and patination/ oxidation
