Large Louis XV style faux malachite clock on stand, with bronze dore mounts, bulbous crown finial, over shaped case centering gilt dial, with white Roman numeral hour markers, time-and-strike movement, above central floral wreath, among naturalistic scrolling foliate motifs, rising on cabriole legs, ending on bun feet, lacking pendulum and bell, not currently operational, approx 67"h, 24"w, 22"d
4.27.25-In my opinion regarding LOT: 4264, The structure stands sturdy with the faux malachite structure remaining intact, the case exhibits only minor surface imperfections and blemishes along with a few minute chips to the finish, gilt bronze mounts are present and securely attached exhibiting mellowing, light spotting, and minor patination, both the front and rear doors are secured by small screws and open and close smoothly, the dial markers display some dirt and wear, the whole is stable with stretchers securely attached at the base, this lot would likely benefit from a gentle cleaning, no major loss or restoration to the case is observed
As noted in the catalog description, the clock is not currently operational as it is lacking a pendulum and bell, it is accompanied by a well-fitting key and winds somewhat easily though with slight resistance, suggesting it may be wound tight, the suspension spring is intact, the movement appears to be marked with Asian characters at the lower left edge and the numerals "8709" at the lower right edge, please see attached images for further review
I am not an expert on such clocks, please let me know if you have further questions
