Flemish hand-woven tapestry, 18th c., likely a fragment from a larger work, depicting a scene from the Old Testament with Moses performing the miracle of striking a rock to produce water alongside the a bishop, housed in a later giltwood frame, sight: approx 55.25"h, 76.5"w, overall: approx 62.5"h, 83.5"w, 43lbs
01.07.26 - In my opinion regarding LOT: 3300- I am not an expert on textiles, the tapestry fragment is overall intact showing expected wear, some tonal variation/fading, light surface dirt and minor spotting throughout, the weaving displays scattered stitched repairs, visible transition threads, seams, and some areas of thread separation with associated gapping, I also note what appear to be a few patched/stitched repairs, there are a few small holes noted in the upper right quadrant, the tapestry hangs loose within the frame, the frame shows a flake to paint in the lower left (visible in online images), rubs, some nicks and general light wear, overall the fragment is stable, with all wear, restorations, and losses consistent with age and use
