Enfield Tower Percussion Carbine, Pattern 1858, Indian Service, Native Foot Police Model, .656 caliber, 31.5" smooth bore barrel, blade front sight, brass nose cap, steel ramrod with cleaning slot, two barrel bands, the front band with a sling swivel, fixed V notch rear sight, the barrel marked behind the rear sight with crown, numbers and broad arrow, the lockplate marked "1858 Tower" and "Crown over "VR"  behind the hammer, brass trigger guard, a sling swivel behind trigger guard tang mounted on the wood stock, a circular brass disc is inset near the butt of the right stock side, partially obscured stamping behind disc in a triangular form with lettering appearing to be "QR, 810-57",  four stamped number series on left stock and "358' next to butt at left, brass butt plate, comes with the correct Enfield Pattern 1853 socket bayonet having no discernible markings due to surface rust, housed in a brass/leather scabbard in good condition, carbine wood with expected dents and scratches, metal is dark brownish, light scratching, bore with surface rust, hammer holds at two positions and responds correctly to trigger, overall in very good condition considering age, NSN    **Reference: Section 1, Entry RB47, "Catalog of the Enfield Pattern Room, British Rifles", Herbert Woodend, Her Majesty's Stationary Office, Government Book Office, London, 1981.
