U.S. Springfield Trapdoor Rifle, Model 1888, 45.70 caliber, mfg. first quarter 1891, 32.5/8" barrel, two barrel bands with "U" mark, ramrod bayonet, blade front sight, Buffington rear sight, barrel in front of breech marked "V,P, eagle, P" and "1" at center, lock marked "U.S. Model 1884", lockplate marked with "eagle and U.S. Springfield", left stock above trigger guard with inspection mark of S.W. Porter dated 1891, further marked behind trigger guard tang "C.B," and "P in circle", stacking swivel and two sling swivels, black leather military style sling, butt plate with port and marked "U.S." at upper tang, wood and metal in expected condition with barrel light brown, action is good, bore semi bright with strong rifling, SN 517657
