Yamaha G2 small grand piano, #E1853018, made in 1974. Made in Hamatsu, Japan. Japanese Yamahas are known by many to be of superior quality.
Satin black lacquer nish with age-appropriate wear, minor imperfections only. Nothing unsightly. No gouges or dents.
Trapwork and damper system (pedal system): solidly attached, quiet operation. Sustain pedal lifts all dampers evenly; sosteneuto pedal operates normally, una corde pedal properly adjusted. Damper felts are in good condition.
Action: All original action parts in good condition. Action regulation is within normal parameters. Key weight: 56 grams downweight; 25-30 grams upweight. Wippens and backchecks in good condition. Keys moderately tight, as expected for a 50year-old instrument. Hammers show only light groves. Key dip: 10 mm., per factory speci cations. Back action is fully functional and properly adjusted. Key tops in good condition. Key fronts are de-laminating and discolored.
Strings and Tuning Pins: Original strings in fair condition. Adequate crown in the soundboard No cracks or splits in the soundboard or rim. Soundboard, Bridges and Plate. No cracks or splits in the soundboard, plate or bridges.
Pitch and tone: Good, resonant tone through all registers for its size. Hammers could improve with some judicious voicing, but no problems with it as is. The piano was found less than 5% at. Pinblock is tight and will hold pitch easily.
