French transitional style tall chest of drawers, late 19th c., shaped marble top, above the conforming case, fitted with seven drawers, framed by rounded corner posts with parquetry inlaid fluting, front cabriole legs on foliate-cast sabots, drawer front veneer with splits and lifting, approx 58.75"h, 29.25"w, 15.25"d
12.2.24: In my opinion regarding LOT 2353: I note that the semainier is presently intact and structurally sturdy, the marble top having inherent natural inclusions and variations, as well as typical minor chipping along the edge, minor chipping along the front edge having been concealed, the drawer fronts having splits with lifting and bubbles commensurate with humidity exposure, some of the drawer fronts slightly bowed but all currently operating smoothly and retaining well-kept/ clean interiors, I observe typical minor veneer chips/ losses, which are sparse, including a segment of loss of inlaid trim, some of these spots having filled concealment, and typical minor splits along the grain of veneer, some having light red wash reinforcement, I observe a minor restoration at the top right corner of right-hand side panel, and patination of the metal elements, which remain securely mounted throughout, I observe typical minor surface wear such as small nicks and light abrasions commensurate with age and use
