Russian Neoclassical style brass-mounted mahogany bed, early 19th c., each end with fluted columnar posts surmounted by foliate finials, the footboard with needlepoint upholstery panel in oval cartouche, depicting a courting couple, rising on block feet, exterior: approx 47"h, 86"l, 44.5"w, , interior: approx 76"l, 41.25"w
04.14.26: In my opinion regarding LOT 3298: I note that the bed stands sturdy, the mahogany veneer is overall well-retained, with some typical narrow seams of separation, and a few stable splits (see images), as well as some scattered areas of filled concealment with a tonal variation from the veneer, metal elements remain securely mounted throughout with varied degrees of patination and spotting, the needlepoint panel remains securely upholstered to the footboard with a couple minute spots of visible canvas, overall having typical light fading and discoloration, I observe typical surface wear, including a gouge near the end of one side rail (see image), other occurrences being minor and commensurate with age and use such as abrasions, nicks, and small chips
